Paula Badosa Professional Career

During the Premier Mandatory Miami Open in March 2015, when Badosa lost to 14th seed Karolina Pliskova, she made a breakthrough as an aggressive baseliner whose favorite stroke is her serve.

She qualified for the Madrid Open later that year and made it to the first round before losing to Sara Errani in the first round.

She lost in the quarterfinals of the 2018 Morocco Open against Aleksandra Krunic. In September of that year, she triumphed against fellow Spaniard Aliona Bolsova to win the $60,000 Open de Valencia tournament in Valencia, Spain.

After qualifying for the Australian Open in 2019, she made her Grand Slam main draw debut, losing to Kimberly Birrell in the first round. During the same year, she also advanced to the round of 16 at Wimbledon and the first round of the US Open.

In January 2020, Badosa made it to the second round of the Australian Open. In the first round, she defeated Johanna Larsson of Sweden in straight sets before falling to Petra Kvitova in the second round.

In the fall of 2020, she competed in the French Open because of the coronavirus epidemic, where she advanced to the fourth round. Before losing to Laura Siegemund of Germany in the fourth round, Badosa had beaten Kateryna Kozlova, Sloane Stephens, and Jelena Ostapenko.
