Her dad was a fossil energy expert who passed at the age of 51, and her mom, Samaha Kotb, operates at the Library of Congress. She is the middle kid of the Kotb family who has a brother called Adel and a sister Hala.

In 2005, Hoda Kotb tied the knot with Burzis Kanga, a former tennis instructor at the University of New Orleans. In the year 2008, their marriage came to an end with a divorce. 

In 2015, she revealed that she was involved with investor Joel Schiffman, whom she had met online. In February of this year, she announced that she had adopted a baby girl called Haley Joy Kotb.

In 1986, Hoda Kotb began her professional journalism career when she was hired as a news assistant for CBS News. Later, she worked as a general assignment newscaster for WQAD-TV in Birmingham, Alabama. 

After a brief stint as a weekend anchor and reporter at WXVT-TV in Vermont, she moved on to WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, where she currently works as an anchor and reporter. 

From 1992 until 1998, Kotb worked as a reporter and anchor for WWL-TV, a television station in the Louisiana city of New Orleans. The next year, she began working for NBC, first as a national correspondent, and she has remained with the network to this day.

As a correspondent for Dateline NBC, the journalist has worked on the network’s newsmagazine since it premiered in 1998. In 2004, she hosted a weekly syndicated television series called ‘Your Total Health,’ which aired from 2004 until 2008. Since 2007, Kotb has served as a co-host on NBC’s ‘Today Show,’ which airs in the fourth hour.

In 2014, she starred in two television series ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.’ Two years later, Kotb featured on the reality television show ‘Brothers Take New Orleans‘ as a celebrity judge.
