When Wynonna Earp returns later this year there will be a new director behind the camera, its leading lady Melanie Scrofano. As reported earlier, Wynonna Earp is back in production on Season 4 and Scrofano will be making her directorial debut in the first episode of the 12-episode season. CTV Sci-Fi and SYFY released a behind-the-scenes look at the Season 4 set on Thursday, as well as Scrofano directing.
Wynonna Earp showrunner Emily Andras is already raving about Scrofano’s turn in the director’s chair this season. “There is literally no one else who knows what makes Wynonna Earp tick better than Melanie Scrofano,” said Andras. “Her enthusiasm, ingenuity, and diligence — not to mention the fierce loyalty of her cast and crew — make her a natural fit for the director’s chair. I am so excited to watch her shine in this new role.”
Directing a full episode of the series comes after Scrofano directed a scene in the Season 3 premiere episode “Red Blood Going Down.” “I’m very excited to bring my experience as Wynonna Earp to the director’s chair for an episode of Season 4,” said Scrofano. “I’ve had the great luck to learn from some of the best directors and showrunners in the business and hope that viewers will enjoy the episode as much as I’ve enjoyed directing it.”
Elsewhere in the world of Wynonna Earp, three new cast members have been introduced to the fans via the #EarpNow hashtag on Twitter: Andrew Phung (Kim’s Convenience), Toronto Maple Leaf’s anthem singer Marina Ortiz-Luis, and Ty Olsson (Supernatural, Fortunate Son). Wynonna Earp Season 4 is expected to debut later this year. In the meantime, viewers can catch up on Seasons 1 – 3 of the series on Netflix or Crave.
