Wynonna Earp Begins Production on Season 3
|
Buckle up, Earpers! Season 3 of Wynonna Earp has officially begun production! The 12-episode, one-hour, western sci-fi series created by Emily Andras films in Calgary and surrounding area until May 2018. Melanie Scrofano is back once again as the titular demon hunter and heroine Wynonna Earp, and the show will return to Space and Syfy later this year.
“We’re excited to kick off production on the third installment of this inventive sci-fi series that continues to turn the western genre on its head,” said Corrie Coe, Senior Vice-President, Original Programming, Bell Media. “Time and again, Emily Andras and her characters, brilliant storylines, and plot twists take our viewers on a ride that has them tuning in for more every week, and we can’t wait to see where this season takes us.”
For those that will recall, the Season 2 finale saw Wynonna (Scrofano), give birth to the next Earp heir, and she’s now hell-bent on dispatching all remaining Revenants and other supernatural beings to end the cycle of violence between future heirs and Wyatt Earp’s demonic outlaws. Armed with Wyatt’s demon-killing six-shooter, Peacemaker, and her battle-seasoned team of demon hunters Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon,), Agent Xavier Dolls (Shamier Anderson), Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley), Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell), and Jeremy Chetri (Varun Saranga), Wynonna challenges fate, faces new foes, and makes life-altering sacrifices in order to break the curse once and for all.
“Over the first two seasons, this series has connected with one of the most passionate audiences in the industry in a very special way,” said Jordy Randall, Executive Producer, SEVEN24 Films. “After the surprising events of last season, we can’t wait to deliver these new episodes to our growing fan base.”
Joining Andras in the writing room on Season 3 is Brendon Yorke, Shelley Scarrow, Noelle Carbone, Caitlin Fryers, and Matt Doyle. Directors include Paolo Barzman, April Mullen, Ron Murphy, and Grant Harvey.

Wynonna Earp Season 3 will air on Syfy and Space in 2018.
I am beyond excited to see season three. Everyone who works on this show is amazing! Melanie truly bring Wynonna to life . The other actors are very talented as well and bring their best to every episode. The writing is some of the best I’ve ever seen. This show raises Canadian television up to a new level🙂❤️
I hope Waverly cheating on Nicole would be addressed properly in season 3. I still can’t believe they just brushed it aside last year! And if I see Jeremy aka Varun in the opening credits, I’ll riot because Katherine Barrell deserved to be there in season 2 itself and I doubt that will be rectified this year. I hope to see better writing this season that is not just meant to shock you but actually respects the characters. (Nicole’s wife, Waverly cheating….seriously??)
I’m eager to see nicole and weverly. And I hope that katherine barrell is in the presentation along with melanie scrofano and others, she is a fundamental part of the series. thanks deeply Emily Andras
Oh, I can’t wait!! Major withdrawals, I still want this show year-round. I’ve researched season 1 and 2 so many times now, lol. Bridget, need an assistant?!
*rewatched (not researched)
Instead of having new useless characters, I would rather have the show give us more of Nicole Haught in terms of her background and her exploits with the gang. The show runner might not acknowledge it but Officer Haught plus Wayhaught is one of the biggest reasons people watch this show, if not the biggest! You know it’s true.
“I hope Waverly cheating on Nicole would be addressed properly in season 3. I still can’t believe they just brushed it aside last year!” – agreed Alice; kissing someone is not on the same level of withholding information, yes both are bad so in that respect they’re the same but Nicole wasn’t trying to hurt Waverly yet what Waverly did was in retaliation kind of to Nicole’s choice and I just really disliked the plot. Had they not been exclusive it might be one thing but being exclusive on top of it felt even worse; Nicole had every write to be angry at Waverly had they written that option!
I also agree that Kat should have been in the opening credits in S2, I was actually surprised she wasn’t given she’s in it so much; I know she’s labeled more as a guest star than main cast member but she’s a main cast member to the fans so it would be nice to see her in there or at the least always given first position in the credits which appear as the episode is playing after the main members run through. Maybe it’s a contract thing with who goes where but Nicole is definitely a main character to me.
I definitely want to see more backstory on Nicole Guest, I think we might get it with this season and her storyline with Dolls; it’s a shame it took until S3 but hopefully we’ll get it.
I really want to see Nicole interact with the group more, I don’t think she’s ever had a solo scene with Doc so I’m interested to see what that might look like. I love her bromance with Dolls so I’m happy to see them reuniting and the dynamic with Wynonna is fun. How might she and Jeremy get along would be something to explore as well. I’m fine with characters having their friends but I want to see them all mingle together as well to keep the realistic vibe going because if they just stick to one or two others it feels predictable and unrealistic depending on situations.
I’m hoping we get some Peacemaker rules this season as well; I definitely want to know history on it and why it acts the way it does why certain people…what do the colors mean, who gave it its power, are there only two colors or are there more, did Peacemaker save Rosita or did Waverly just graze her with her shot because she totally hit her but would that have always been the placement of the shot or did Peacemaker do that, what would happen if Nicole fired Peacemaker or Dolls – they can’t kill Revenants with it of course but how would it respond to them?
Speaking of guns, more Nicole awesomeness with them – never forget she hit an electrical box across the room in a strip club with all those distractions while wasted with one shot, she’s a bada** who could challenge Doc any day I feel!
I’m excited to see what they do this season as I’ve really enjoyed the overall realistic feel of things in previous seasons.
