Heads up Vampire Diaries fans, because it sounds as though the day of reckoning is finally here. Thursday night’s February Sweeps episode of the vamp-tastic series, “Prayer for the Dying,” might as well have been titled, “The Merge.”
With Kai (Chris Wood) and his power at full force, Jo (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) unable to perform basic magic and the twins’ birthday officially here, the drama only intensifies when Christopher Cousins returns as the foursome’s father dearest. When pops attempts to force a merge, the only remaining question is, which set of siblings will be the ones to take the deadly stand?
“I’m not even sure what I can say, but Jo’s family is all back in her life now,” O’Keefe tells The TV Junkies. “The merge has been a really big subject so far, and it’s going to come to head. But I’m under lock and key!”
The actress wouldn’t divulge much more, although she did seem to fall on the same side as most of the other characters in regards to whether she could actually defeat her murderous brother.
“He’s had so many years of practice and all this time to really work on it. That’s a hard battle to fight,” she teases. “He strips your power so it’s like taking away all of your weapons. But … practice, practice, practice. That’s how you get to Carnegie Hall!”
Whether Jo and Kai will even battle it out remains to be seen, but if Jo has her way, she’s not going to let her new friends down anytime soon. In much the same way that O’Keefe feels she’s grown to be a part of The Vampire Diaries since joining in a guest star role at the beginning of the season, Jo is ready to duke it out.
“The life that Jo has worked so hard to get away from is thrown right back in her face,” the actress explains. “But I think Jo feels bonded to the whole group now. I don’t think she would ever turn her back on her new group of supernatural family and friends.”
What do you think: will Kai and Jo merge? Could it be the twins instead? Have any other predictions? Sound off in the comments below. In the meantime, enjoy these teaser pics from “Prayer for the Dying” and be sure to watch the preview clip below.
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW and CTV Two in Canada.
