Things got dark on this week’s UnREAL, real dark. Mary’s suicide had everyone scrambling and no one knew if Everlasting could survive. Thanks to Rachel’s quick thinking it did and may even earn the show some great ratings. This week’s episode was aptly titled “Savior” and that’s exactly what Rachel was. She stepped up and saved the show.
If you had any doubts about Rachel’s ability to do her job I’m pretty sure those are gone now. This girl knows what she’s doing and she is damn good at it. I’ve wondered all season if Rachel would be able to keep it together, especially in times of stress, and I have to admit that I was a little surprised to see that she was the one that ended up saving the day, and the show. I was sure it would end up being Quinn. She’s the one that seems to have it together the most, even if her together ends up being a horrible person, but even she threw in the towel this week. Yes, faking the letter was a little questionable but it needed to be done. Mary’s abusive ex husband did not deserve to profit from her death and this was probably the only way to stop him.
Shiri Appleby and Constance Zimmer continue to amaze me with their performances. These two steal the show every week and I would not be surprised to see those names come up once awards season starts. They both deserve some serious props for their performance in this show, especially this week.
I knew Shia wouldn’t be able to keep it together. I knew she would be the first to crack. She tried really hard to be like Quinn and Rachel, to be as good as they were, but she just didn’t have it in her. I’m surprised that Quinn protected her like she did. I guess in the end she was protecting the show but I was sure she would throw Shia under the bus. I guess she still could, I doubt that this is the last we will see of Shia.
I’ve said before that Jeremy’s actions confuse me and this week was no different. I really do like him and Rachel together. They should be together. He just needs to man up and make a decision already. It’s like he’s teasing Rachel with his actions. There is no doubt what Rachel wants and needs really, it’s Jeremy. And I think Jeremy feels the same way. They just can’t seem to figure out that they are both feeling the same way. It’s so frustrating to watch these two finally get together and then push each other away again. I really hope that they manage to figure out what each other wants before something bad happens, like Rachel sleeping with Adam. Or did that just happen?
Chet really impressed me this week. His involvement with the show (Everlasting) has increased every week and I’m surprised by how hard he works and how much loves his show. Another thing he loves is Quinn. Sure we’ve known that for a while but this week he finally stepped up and proved it. Not only did he defend and protect her from the network’s wrath but he finally, FINALLY, left his wife for her. It’s about time Chet, seriously. Here’s hoping this decision actually sticks. Going back on his words now would destroy Quinn and she doesn’t deserve that. As horrible of a person as she is even she deserves to be happy, especially when it’s with the guy that she loves.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Are you as impressed with Shiri and Constance as I am? Are you frustrated by Rachel and Jeremy’s relationship? Were you impressed with Chet this week? Drop a few words in the comments section below and let us know what you think.
