TV We’re Thankful For: 2016 Edition
|Believe it or not, the holiday season is almost here once again. With everything going on, we here at The TV Junkies didn’t want to miss an opportunity to remind ourselves what we’re most grateful for when it comes to the world of television. It could be something big, or perhaps just a small character trait, but really just anything TV related that has us smiling at the moment. As the US gets ready to celebrate Thanksgiving, join our staff as they list all the things that have them feeling grateful.
NOTE: A small warning, this DOES contain some spoilers!
What about you? What are you thankful for? Sound off and add your choices in the comments below!

I’m all for Dr. Eliza Minnick with Arizona; I’m just glad it’s not Leah they’re pairing her with again because that would have been so hard to buy. I hope Minnick gets some fans, it doesn’t have to be Arizona just because they might date, for her side regarding the her versus Richard’s plan because while Richard has some points so does Minnick and if they worked together the program might be even better since different people learn in different ways; I hate how it seems Richard is getting away with an ego fit, yes Bailey should have told him sooner but it doesn’t mean his ideas for the program are better than Eliza’s just because he’s been there longer.
“CHYLER LEIGH’S PERFORMANCE ON SUPERGIRL SEASON 2” – without question! She did great work in S1 also but she and writers this season with the plot are like next leveling it.
I’m just glad “Jane The Virgin” didn’t kill Michael; also yes to Team Michael!
“Forget shipping wars or which team you’re on, both Supergirl and Wynonna Earp prove time and again that the true love story on their respective shows is that between sisters.” – agreed!
More things I’m thankful for…
“Supergirl” as a whole; it’s great to see the female heroes getting spotlight and being done with the equal respect of the male hero shows. It’s great to see them showcasing the differences in Kara and Clark because just because they’re similar doesn’t make them the same, also it’s nice having a superhero show that’s light in tone and not all angst and action! It also shows there’s many ways to be a hero – it could be in a suit like Kara, it could be out in the open like Alex or behind the scenes like Winn. This series as a whole is just incredibly awesome.
I can’t remember if “The Fosters” season finale was in 2016 or not, but if it was then I’m adding them for the awesomeness that is Stef and Lena.
“Conviction” for bringing Hayley Atwell back to the screen and for giving me “Fairly Legal” vibes again.
“This Is Us” for their realism and great mix of emotions.
The animated series “Archer” for always making me chuckle at the least and laugh at the most.
I’m looking forward to more discussions!
Awesome! Thanks for adding in your TV “blessings!”
I’m also happy for “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” bringing back Agent Simmons and not forcing her into just the girlfriend role for another season, as a Simmons fan that was brutal to watch in S3. It was great seeing Daisy and Jemma interacting as well, it’s been far to long since they were together!
Agreed! Supergirl has definitely upped it’s game from season 1, largely in part by showcasing the sister relationship which in turn has added depth to both characters. Good move on their part & good observation on yours. ☺
P.S. Wynonna Earp was stellar out of the gate! Anxiously awaiting season 2!!!
1 (Grey’s Anatomy) I hate Eliza, most annoying character.
2 (Supergirl) I skipped ever checking out the show but I really miss Chyler from Grey’s. Sigh…
3 (Gilmore Girls) By far the thing I’m most thankful for. I am so excited to see it!
4 (Insecure) I really want to watch this but don’t get HBO so eventually I will have to find this through illicit means.
5 (Jane the Virgin) I haven’t watched any of this season yet. My DVR failed to record the season premiere so I have to get around to looking online for it. If only Shomi didn’t fail me.
6 (Pitch) Ali Latter is great in this. I’m only 2 episodes in (way too much on TV to watch right now) but I really like the show and it sucks it isn’t doing well ratings-wise.
7 (Westworld) I don’t get HBO and with so much else on TV, I don’t want to go to the work of finding episodes online. All those popup ads are annoying.
8 (The Voice) I don’t watch it.
9 (Wynonna Earp) Another good show, reminds me so much of Buffy.
10 (Billy on the Street) I don’t watch it.
11 (When Calls the Heart) I still really like the show and despite some horrendously awful writing this past season, I will be happy to see next season. Jack is the best part of the show.
12 (The Good Place) I enjoy the show although if it was cancelled tomorrow I wouldn’t be disappointed.
13 (Big Bang Theory) I continue to watch this show and I still find myself laughing a lot, especially during the latest episode.
14 (Black Mirror) I don’t watch it.
15 (Fresh off the Boat) I used to really like this show but I’m close to hitting delete on my DVR. I’m finding it too clichéd this year.
16 (American Horror Story) I don’t watch it.
17 (The Flash) I don’t watch it.
18 (Dancing with the Stars) I don’t watch it.
19 (Supernat
20 (
Oops, hit the comment button before I was done.
19 (Supernatural) I haven’t watch for about 5 years.
20 (Notorious) I don’t watch.
