Coroner Reveals Anne Heche's Cause of Death

People reported today that Anne Heche died from "smoke inhalation and thermal burns" according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Her death was deemed an official accident.

The study noted a "sternal fracture owing to blunt trauma" as an additional "significant ailment" that contributed to her death.

Last week, Heche was injured when her automobile jumped a curb and crashed into a house in West Los Angeles, before catching fire.

She was brought to the emergency room in a severe condition.

Colleagues, acquaintances, and admirers pay tribute to Anne Heche.

Thursday, after viable organs had been given and it was determined that Heche was brain dead, her family took the tough choice to discontinue life support.

On Sunday evening, her heart stopped beating.

The coroner's office reported her death date as August 11, the day she was pronounced brain dead at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center.
