According to a source, the "Calvine picture" was shot by two hikers near Calvine, Scotland, on August 4, 1990, and has been the subject of myths, speculations.
The photograph depicts a diamond-shaped object floating above the planet, with what looks to be a fighter jet approaching it.
Now, British journalist David Clarke has made it available for public interpretation.
Clarke, a curator for the British National Archives, discovered that former Royal Air Force Press Officer Craig Lindsay possessed a copy of the original print.
According to the study, the "Calvine picture" is one of six photographs acquired by the hikers whose identities remain unknown.
The ministry concealed the photograph for over three decades. Clarke stated that the negatives had not been viewed since they reached the Department of Defense.
