Well folks, Sesame Street has done it again. This time, the children’s show is giving us a parody of Game of Thrones just in time for Sunday’s upcoming Season 5 premiere on HBO and HBO Canada. May we present, Game of Chairs.
Posted Monday on Sesame Street’s You Tube channel, the spot on spoof stars Grover as a Joffrey-esque “Grover Bluejoy,” who tries, but always fails, in explaining the rules of Musical Chairs, a game that will decide the new king or queen of “Jesteros.” Plenty of our favourite Game of Thrones characters make an appearance. There’s of course a Ned Stark-looking Muppet and the inevitable joke about him losing his head over the game. Other Game of Thrones characters we here at The TV Junkies found humorous were “a mother of dragons,” a puppet version of Melisandre who appeared to tell the audience “that monster is blue and full of errors,” and various Lannisters including Cersei and Tyrion.
Despite being aimed at children, it’s clear that the Sesame Street writers also had hungry Game of Thrones fans in mind and this will help tide us over while we wait on Sunday’s premiere. But don’t just take our word for it. Take a look for yourself here:
