Schitt’s Creek Preview: An Old-Fashioned Rose Family Party

Get ready, because the holidays are coming to Schitt’s Creek! The Rose family returns with a brand new holiday episode of Schitt’s Creek, airing Tuesday, December 18 at 9 p.m. ET on CBC and Wednesday, December 19 at 10 p.m. ET on Pop TV. In “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose,” Johnny (Eugene Levy) wants to celebrate the way the Roses used to do, when they had money, and throw a big Christmas party. However, as can be expected, his family isn’t exactly jumping on board with his plans.

If you’re anything like us her at The TV Junkies, then you’re overjoyed to be getting some new Schitt’s Creek ahead of the Season 5 premiere in January. We were able to screen the episode early, and in celebration of it we’ve offered a few teases below about what to expect. As is always the case, there are no spoilers here, only hints to keep building the excitement until you can celebrate with the Roses properly by tuning in.

A glimpse of the past

We know Johnny sets out in this episode to throw “an old-fashioned Rose Family Christmas Party,” but to know what that really entails, Schitt’s takes us back in time. We get to see the Roses in all their glory and what really went down at the parties the family used to throw. It’s quite a thrill and makes you realize just how much each of these characters have grown.

David and Moira on stage again!

Who can forget the time David joined his mother on stage to perform last season? As a bit of a holiday gift, Schitt’s Creek is going to let us experience all that over again as the mother/son duo perform yet again! Our only question is when will the David and Moira holiday album be released?

Bah humbug!

When Johnny brings his proposal for throwing an impromptu holiday party in Schitt’s Creek, his family is (shockingly!) less than enthused. They just aren’t feeling that holiday spirit quite like Johnny. Will he be able to convince them all to get on board? Here’s hoping!

Outside forces at work

While Johnny’s family may not be much help, he may find that their friends and significant others are a little more excited and willing to pitch in to make this party happen. From Patrick (Noah Reid) and Ted (Dustin Milligan) to Stevie (Emily Hampshire), Johnny may get some help after all. Will they be able to convince the rest of the Rose family to chip in?

Alexis’ uphill battle

While Alexis (Annie Murphy) and Ted have successfully reconciled and are happier than ever, it turns out she still may not have won everyone over. You see, it seems like Ted’s friends are a little wary of her — rightfully so — and Alexis being Alexis, that’s just not going to stand. How will she respond to this news?
