8 Reasons We’re Stoked For Season 2 of Playing House

It’s about that time Jammers! The Season 2 premiere of Playing House is getting closer and closer. We’re a little over a month away from the second season premiere of the beloved and critically adored comedy as it returns on August 4 at 10 p.m. to the USA Network. While the renewal for the second season came late last year and left us exhaling a huge sigh of relief, we here at The TV Junkies could not be more stoked for the show’s return.

The show follows platonic best friends Maggie (Lennon Parham) and Emma (Jessica St. Clair) as they raise Maggie’s baby together after her divorce. Throughout filming of the eight-episode second season both St. Clair and Parham have been tweeting and posting pictures on Instagram like crazy, and have us even more excited to check in with these childhood BFFs. In fact we’re so excited that we decided to give you a quick list of all the reasons why we can hardly wait to get our hands on another round of Playing House come August.

Oh and if you’ve yet to catch Season 1, have no fear. All 10 episodes are available to stream on USA Network’s site.

1. We can’t wait to see them raise a baby together

Season 1 saw Emma return home and leave behind a high-paying job to help her recently divorced BFF Maggie through her pregnancy. Now that baby Charlotte has arrived they will need to work together to raise her and we’re guessing that will lead to some pretty hilarious new parent moments. Regardless of the pitfalls they may encounter, as long as these two have each other we’re pretty sure everything will turn out alright and know that baby Charlotte is in good hands. You want to talk about girl power? These two sisters are definitely doing it for themselves.

2. The Return of Bosephus (and Jandana)!

Remember when Maggie was worried about her little brother Zach (Zach Woods) getting catfished by an online girlfriend and busted out her alter-ego Bosephus? We sure do and we hear he’s back for Season 2! So don’t listen to what Emma has to say:

We definitely DO want to see Bosephus again, even if he does creep us out a little bit. Oh and better yet, it looks like he’s once again bringing along “lover” Jandana!

Something epic happened today. #thisisit #kennyloggins @playinghouseusa

3. Musical Guest Stars

After admitting the he himself couldn’t wait for the return of Season 2 of Playing House, Parham and St. Clair got singer Darius Rucker a guest-starring role on the comedy. We’re not sure how or why he comes to visit, but we’re still excited to check it out.

Playing House fans also know the ladies possess quite a strong affection for singer Kenny Loggins, going way back to the pilot episode. It now looks as if their, and our, dreams are coming true as the beloved singer is set to guest star on the Season 2 finale. What makes us love this news even more is that Parham apparently wrote Loggins herself asking him to guest star and included a video of herself and a friend at one of his concerts. The guest spot is sure to be a highlight of the season and one we’re eagerly anticipating. Now pardon us as we get ready by singing a little “Celebrate Me Home” quietly to ourselves.

4. A flashback episode

According to a photo posted by Parham, it looks like there’s going to be a flashback episode to see what 12 year old Maggie and Emma were really like. As if these ladies don’t get in awkward enough situations in the present day we can only imagine what fun seeing the 12 year old versions of them will bring along.

5. More Bird Bones!

One of the highlights of Season 1 was meeting the girls’ former high school classmate Tina, aka Bird Bones, played by guest star Lindsay Sloane. Did we mention that Tina is also married to Emma’s ex-boyfriend, Mark (Keegan-Michael Key) and she wasn’t too pleased to see some flirting going on between the exes at the end of Season 1. How will this sometimes fragile woman handle herself in Season 2 around the ladies? We can’t to wait to find out!

What a happy couple! #birdbones @lindsaysloaneyup @keeganmic

6. More amazing guest stars

Rucker and Loggins aren’t the only fun guest stars we’re excited to see join the ladies at some point in Season 2. From what St. Clair and Parham have shared we can also expect to see Rob Riggle, Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott and the Sklar brothers at some point.

7. The one where they all go glam

It looks like everyone attends the black tie affair known as the Policeman’s ball this season and we can’t wait to see everyone decked out in their finest attire. Plus, if this Policeman’s ball is anything like the police benefit Mark helped organize last season then sign us up!

8. The new lingo

These two best friends connect on many levels, including at times speaking in their own special language. At first, we may not have totally understood, but now phrases like “Body Be Bangin'” and “Jammers” are part of our everyday vocabulary. Season 2 is bound to bring a whole new set of phrases we can use and to us that is just plain “Kewl!”

Jammers, we may have a little over a month’s wait still ahead of us, so in the meantime find your BFF, grab the cupcakes and turn on the Netflix. Emma and Maggie will be back soon enough and Season 2 of Playing House looks like it’s shaping up to be another fun ride.
