We’re getting a new dose of elves, magic, and fantasy adventure, thanks to the return of The Shannara Chronicles. The first season blew us all away with its epic scope, shocking twists, and characters you couldn’t help but fall in love with. Now we’re finally returning to the Four Lands with the Season 2 premiere this Oct. 11 on Spike in the U.S. and Space in Canada.

It’s been more than a year since The Shannara Chronicles, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Into the Badlands), aired its debut season on MTV. The freshman season followed Wil (Austin Butler), Amberle (Poppy Drayton), and Eretria (Ivana Baquero) on a quest to save the Four Lands from destruction. When a magical tree called the Ellcrys began to die, a powerful demon named Dagda Mor (Jed Brophy) rose up to destroy the Elven kingdom. With the help of the druid Allanon (Manu Bennett), the trio were able to stop the demons, but not without paying a terrible price.

Amberle may be gone, but the fight to save the Four Lands is far from over. For those who haven’t had the chance to rewatch, we recapped where each of the main characters left off in the Season 1 finale.

We first met Wil in the midst of tragic circumstance; his mother died, leaving him with mystical elfstones. He planned to journey to Storlock to train to become a healer, but was instead intercepted by Allanon. He revealed that Wil had a greater destiny as the last son of Shannara, and set him on his journey with Amberle and Eretria to resurrect the dying Ellcrys. Wil experienced heartbreak again in the finale when Amberle sacrificed herself to become the new Ellcrys and destroy the Dagda Mor. Still reeling from the loss, he set off to find Eretria.
